Jesus and the uncertainty of Obedience

March 28, 2021

Matthew 26:36-46

Our Lenten journey now enters the most important week of the Christian year, in which we follow Jesus through the city gates on Palm Sunday. This path will lead Jesus to the Cross. Most of the stories that we encounter during Holy week seem to concentrate on Jesus and his interaction with one or more individuals but not in this story. In our reading Jesus is alone in the garden of Gethsemane, pouring his heart out to God with deep sadness and distress while some of his disciples are somewhere sleeping in the background.
