Dear West View family

FAMILY FUN DAY THIS SUNDAY @9h00

We’re celebrating Spring this Sunday with outdoor worship @9h00 followed by a Fun Day including a scavenger hunt for kids, table tennis, sports, live music and a picnic. Bring your own lunch or buy food on site. Bring your own camping chairs and blankets or use the plastic chairs provided. PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS ONLY ONE IN-PERSON WORSHIP SERVICE AT 9h00.

PRAYER FOR GOD’S WISDOM AND GUIDANCE AS WE PREPARE FOR 2022

Next Saturday 18September is West View’s annual Strategic Planning Workshop. I’d value your prayers for our facilitator Johan Greeff, for the Society Stewards and pastoral and office staff who will be participating, and for the group of teens, young adults and young parents who’ll be sharing their perspectives on how to share the gospel with younger generations. Join me in praying for the Spirit’s wisdom and guidance as we discern God’s will for our future life together.

RELIGIOUS CONSPIRACY VS GOSPEL TRUTH

At Church Express next Sunday 19 September @6pm, we’ll be exploring the challenge of Fake News. How do we figure out truth from lies? Join us for live worship, interactive conversation, and wise input on this important topic.

FINANCES

Tithes and offerings during August totalled R456 000, just R4 000 shy of our R460 000 budget. Our year-to-date shortfall is R50 000. Thank you for your faithful, sacrificial, and generous giving towards God’s work at West View.

METHODIST ANNUAL CONFERENCE

Our Annual Conference is being held in hybrid online/in-person format this weekend. Please join me in praying for all delegates gathering from the six Southern African nations in our Connexion, for our Presiding Bishop, Purity Malinga, and for wisdom and inspiration in decisions taken by Conference. REASONS TO GET VACCINATED

Evidence of the life-saving effectiveness of vaccines is now beyond doubt. I plead with you to make sure that you get vaccinated soon, ahead of the fourth wave of COVID-19 infections. Reasons for being vaccinated include:

  1. The more people are vaccinated, the less necessary it will be for government to introduce harsh lockdown measures when the fourth wave of infections hits towards the end of this year. Getting vaccinated will save jobs and bring some measure of normality back to our lives
  2. Being vaccinated is the best way to show our appreciation to our healthcare workers for the sacrifices they have made for our health over the past 18 months. We can save them from a traumatic fourth wave by ensuring that our ICU’s are not overwhelmed by unvaccinated patients requiring Intensive Care
  3. Being vaccinated will increase the safety of our in-person gatherings.

Grace and Peace
