E-letter Late August 2019
August 29, 2019
Dear West View family
Last weekend’s Men’s Camp was a fantastic time of fellowship and spiritual growth for the men present. September is packed full of great events at West View, and I commend all the activities listed below to you:
WEST VIEW COLLEGE is having an Open Day this Saturday 31st August, 9h30 to 13h00. If you’re looking for an excellent Christian Pre or Primary School for your child, do come along.
Excitement is building for SPRINGFEST this Sunday 1st September. Bring along a picnic, or buy a boerie roll, vetkoek or cupcake from 11am into the afternoon. There’ll be face painting, a jumping castle and other fun activities led by the Youth and Children’s Ministry. Visiting worship group CrossRoad will lead both morning services, and C’mist Performing Arts will present the gospel in dance at the 6pm service.
This Sunday is your last opportunity to buy tickets for “MEGASTARS OF POP” at Rockwood Theatre on 6th September. Tickets cost R150 each and funds raised will be shared between Khuluma Family Counselling and the Youth & Children’s Ministry at West View. Please support this FUN-draising event.
There is an important LEADERS’ MEETING on Thursday evening 12th September @ 7pm. If any leader has not received email notice of the meeting, please email Lael at lael@westview.org.za.
September is YOUTH MONTH for Methodists around our Connexion. Worship at our evening services during September will be led by the Youth Worship Band, and special guest preachers will preach at the evening service. Our theme for the month is “Impact” and we will look at how young people made an impact in scripture. God can use anybody to make a difference in the world; what difference does God want you to make? The series launches with C’mist on the 1st of Sep, followed by Joseph’s story on the 8th.
Do you want to make a Kingdom difference this Heritage Day? Join the congregational WORKPARTY AT DITSHEGO on Tuesday 24th September. Meet at West View at 8am. Bring along your creativity, sun block and a hat. We’ll finish with a braai and be back at the church after lunch. To sign up or for more details, email Jos at josua@westview.org.za. We’ll be joined by a mission team from Church of the Resurrection in the USA. Primary and High School kids are welcome.
FINANCE UPDATE: Tithes and Offerings in September were R421 000, R39 000 short of budget. The year to date shortfall of R86 000 is putting cash flow under severe pressure. Please prayerfully consider ways in which God might be calling you to resource His work at West View through your tithes and offerings.
Grace and Peace
