Dear West View family

MOTHER’S DAY

We’ve got a special service lined up for Mother’s Day. Thank you to all who submitted video clips and photos of your moms. For some, three or even four generations of families will be sharing in the service from different locations. May the worship service connect us, not just to God, but to each other. To participate fully in the service, have with you a bowl of water, liquid soap and a towel.

FAREWELL TO JOSH NICHOLSON…SORT OF!

We’ve been blessed to have Josh as our Children’s and Family Life Pastor for the past 7 years. Josh has accepted a teaching position at Sutherland High School and will leave the staff team at the end of this month. We’re delighted that he and Claire will continue to be part of our church community as congregation members, and we wish Josh well in this new expression of living out God’s call upon his life. Thanks Josh for your impact on the children of our community! Owing to the uncertainty surrounding the impact of the pandemic on church life, we have frozen this position for the time being. A team of volunteers is being pulled together to continue Children’s ministry through lockdown.

THURSDAY MORNING PRAYER MEETING

We apologise for the technical glitch which made it impossible to join yesterday’s Prayer meeting. The glitch has been resolved, and I invite you to join at 10h00 each Thursday morning for a time of prayer.

FINANCIAL UPDATE

Income through tithes and offerings in April was R431 492, just R18 507 (4%) short of budget. I’m deeply humbled by your faithful commitment to God’s work through West View during a time when many of you face financial strain and uncertainty. Thank you.

UPDATE ON PURCHASE OF 80 BOSDUIF CRESCENT

Owing to uncertainty about the financial effect of lockdown both on West View College and on us as a congregation, we have put on hold the process of purchasing 80 Bosduif Crescent. We will review this decision towards the end of 2020.

LEADERS MEETING

Forty West View leaders gathered over Zoom for a Leaders meeting on Wednesday evening, with the focus being on congregational life during lockdown. I left the meeting inspired by the reports from each cluster detailing the creative ways in which ministry continues to impact lives for Jesus. The meeting was recorded, and will be available on our website late next week. Thank you to all who participated with such positivity and enthusiasm.

ASCENSION DAY WORSHIP

Join us for online Ascension Day worship at 08h30 on Thursday 21st May.

Grace and Peace

Ian
