Dear West View family
It’s been wonderful to see how many people have joined Small Groups for our Lenten series Saviour. It’s great after 2 years of social distancing to be able to do life together in this way. Life change happens in small groups! I know that God is using small group life at West View to bring light and growth to many.
Current Series – Saviour
Join us Sunday for the second part of the Saviour series in-person at 8h00 and 10h00 or online at 8h30
Church Express Explores Cancel Culture
Join us @ 6 pm this Sunday, 13 March, as Church Express explores questions like “What is cancel culture?”, “Did Jesus ever cancel anybody?”. Great worship and coffee will precede our conversation
Community Worship
Kids and Teens will join with adults for Community Worship next Sunday, 20 March. Children’s Church and Rooted Youth will take a break for the government holidays, starting again on Palm Sunday, 10 April.
Khuluma
Thank you to those who have already contributed items towards our Lenten collection for Khuluma’s victims of Gender Based Violence. Please keep items with you until the offering moment in worship, then place them at the display in the corner when you make your offering. As you do, offer up a prayer for healing and courage for those who will receive your gift. Click here to download the list of needs.
Finances
Tithes and offerings for February totalled R422 500, i.e. R50 000 (11%) below budget. This brings our year to date shortfall to R80 000 and is placing some strain on cash flow. Please prayerfully consider this reality as you discern your own level of giving towards God’s work at West View.
Volunteer Opportunity
Are you able to ‘babysit’ the church cell phone on a roster basis? This ministry involves sending the daily devotions out Monday – Friday @ 6am, sending the link for Sunday online worship, and forwarding occasional WhatsApps received to a staff member. Contact avril@westview.org.za if you are able to assist.
Farewell Charl Venter
This Sunday is Charl’s last day on staff at West View. We thank Charl for his contribution to Youth and Communications in his brief time as a staff member and wish him well in the next chapter of his ministry.
Seedlings
Seedlings is a group for parents (moms and dads) of babies and toddlers, which meets once a month to talk about issues faced by parents. You are invited to join on the 26th of March in the Infant Chapel, at 10h00, for a time of discussion, support, and fellowship. Kids are welcome to join.
For more information, email Manti at manti@westview.org.za.
Volunteers
We are currently looking for people motivated to reach children and teach them about God’s word. Being a Sunday School teacher requires a time commitment of roughly two hours every second week.
For more information or to sign up as a volunteer, please feel free to contact Manti at manti@westview.org.za.
Friendship Club
The next West View Friendship Club meeting will be on Thursday 17 March 2022 at 10h00 in the Luke Hall. All regular and new members are invited to join us. Remember to bring your own mug for coffee or tea—friendship, support & fellowship for the retired or persons over 55.
MWA Jumble Sale
The MWA is having their Jumble sale on the first of April on Willem Botha Street. They are looking for any second-hand donations. They are asking church members to bring donations on Sundays, clearly marked, to the coffee and tea area after services to an MWA representative. For more info, don’t hesitate to get in touch with Pauline on 082 927 1121 or pauline@polka.co.za
