Dear West View family
How good it is that COVID infection rates in South Africa remained low throughout April. This is our reward for remaining cautious during the Easter weekend and public holidays. Let’s continue to exercise caution in the way that we gather and interact with each other. There are many opportunities to heal, worship, grow and serve during May. I commend the following events to you:
GriefShare
GriefShare is a 13 week video-based support group for those who have experienced grief. Thousands around the world have experienced it to be a course that offers healing and hope. The course will run on the West View campus starting Saturday 8 May, 08h30-10h30. To register for the course or for more information, please email Nick Lottering, (nick.lottering@vitalitybroadband.co.za) or Sally Wessels (sally.sf.wessels@gmail.com).
Mothers’ Day 9th May
We’re thrilled to have Deacon Michelle Ingram preaching at this Sunday’s online and in-person Mothers’ Day services. Men@Work is leading all services. Don’t miss out on what will be a very special service.
MWA Mothers’ Day Gifts Fundraiser
The MWA is selling novelty gifts, confectionary, plants and more after both in-person services. Spoil your mom with a gift and support the work of MWA at the same time.
Ascension Thursday 13th May
In-person Ascension Day worship will be at 10h00. Online worship premieres at 8h30
Visit of Presiding Bishop on Sunday 16th May
Our Presiding Bishop Rev Purity Malinga will be preaching at 8h00 and 10h00, and baptising Okuhle Madi at 10h00, on Sunday 16th May. I encourage you to come along for this special service.
EWA Knitalong
The EWA is holding a fun crochet and knitting “knit-along” on 22 May 2021. This event replaces our usual Knitathon. It is not a fundraiser (as our Knitathon usually is), but rather a social event to encourage folk who have not been out and about during lockdown to spend a fun-filled afternoon with friends old and new.
Rands and Sense for Troubled Times
During May’s Tithe Month, we challenge each other to give a tithe of our income to God’s work at West View. Our 3 week preaching & study series launches 30th May. We’ll explore biblical wisdom for our Rands and Cents and discover the joy of ordering our finances around our faith in Jesus.
MWA Jumble Sale
If you’re clearing out your wardrobes, please send your jumble the way of the MWA for their jumble sale on 30th June.
Ditshego
Ditshego continues to offer God’s hope and help to the community of Spruit (Mooiplaas) and to the children in the Place of Safety in exciting ways. Click here to be inspired by the latest Ditshego newsletter.
Finance Update
Tithes and Offerings for April totalled R439 500, R20 500 (4.5%) below budget. Our year to date shortfall is R27 600.
Grace and Peace
