E-letter 16 March 2020

March 16, 2020

Dear West View family

In worship yesterday, I shared with you that we are monitoring the rapidly changing situation regarding the Novel-Coronavirus pandemic. Using the analogy of a traffic light with green, amber and red, West View is somewhere between green and amber at this stage. President Ramaphosa’s announcement last evening that gatherings will be limited to 100 people obviously requires an action plan, and we are already working on formulating that plan. As we do so, please note the following:

  1. The only church meetings which exceed the 100 limit announced by President Ramaphosa are the 7h45 and 9h45 worship services. We will inform you of the way forward with these services later this week once we have reached a decision
  2. I will be sending out an update by email every few days. If you come across church members who are not receiving my emails, please remind them to contact reception@westview.org.za with their details (full name, cell number, email) so that they can be added to our database. Updates will be posted on FaceBook
  3. For now, church meetings will go on as normal, although we will be increasing our infection control measures
  4. Please remember that washing your hands regularly with warm water and soap for 20 seconds is recommended

I know how important worship is for us, and wish to assure you that we will do all we can to ensure both that reasonable precautions to ensure your wellbeing and meaningful opportunities for you to worship in community are provided. I close with the powerful words from Psalm 46 that I shared in worship yesterday: “God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear… Be still, and know that I am God”

Grace and Peace
