Loving with your Words
Dear West View family
Welcome to worship. We extend a special welcome to the family and friends of Kurt and Lindi Wolhuter, as little Aerin is baptised into membership of God’s family at our 7h45 service.
Today is day 18 of 40 DAYS OF LOVE.
As we approach the halfway mark of this series, we’re focusing on Loving with our Words. In Colossians 4:6, Paul writes “Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to
answer everyone”. What a wonderful vision Paul paints – of conversation that is jam-packed with grace, and that gives flavour to life. And yet how we struggle to live into that vision. Gossip, lies, cynicism and spite too often poison our conversation, and leave both us and those we speak with feeling despondent and devalued.
As we unpack what it means to speak words of love, may you each be open to the Spirit’s work in your inner being. For scripture reminds us that ‘out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks’. Come, Holy Spirit, and change our hearts, that we might speak words of life, truth and hope.
Grace and Peace
