11 October 2018

Dear West View family

Wasn’t last evening’s presentation by Professor David Bloch inspiring? We serve an awesome God; a God who, as well as creating the heavens, calls each one of us by name. What a privilege to be God’s children.

DISCIPLE BIBLE STUDY COURSE 2019

The Disciple Course is a yearlong survey of the bible, with weekly meetings, beginning in late January. The hundreds of people who have done Disciple at West View attest to its power in deepening both their understanding of scripture, and their love of God. Registration for 2019 is now open. TEACH US TO PRAY PART II

Owing to the overwhelming response to our teaching series on the Lord’s Prayer, we are extending this series into November, and completing the study of the entire Lord’s Prayer. Part 2 of the devotional guides will be available by the end of October in the church foyer and on the church website.

 FINANCIAL UPDATE

Tithes and Offerings received during August and September were sharply down on those received in the first seven months of 2018, at R432 000 and R409 000 respectively. This is placing church operations under severe financial strain and threatens to hamper our effectiveness in ministry. I invite you to join me in prayerful consideration of whether God is calling you to be part of the solution by increasing the level of your giving to God’s work at West View.

HR UPDATE

This month we bid farewell to two staff members. Louise Zondagh retires after 18 years of faithful and passionate service on staff at West View. We thank God for Louise’s significant contribution to West View over the years. Cisca Forder is relocating to Dubai after a short but valuable time on staff.

Lael Du Toit will be taking over from Louise as my Personal Assistant. Nicola Atherton will step into the role of Worship Co-ordinator, while Jos Nicolson will take over Cisca’s work of New Member’s integration.

STRATEGIC PLANNING MORNING ON SATURDAY 27th OCTOBER

The staff and Executive meet on Saturday morning 27th October to discern God’s dreams and plans for West View in 2019. It is vitally important that we hear God’s voice and dream God’s dreams, rather than our own plans and dreams. Please can you bathe this morning in prayer.

Grace and Peace
