Eldoraigne Retirement Estate
West View Methodist Church and the Dutch Reformed Church Raslouw embarked on a joint Outreach Ministry Project to the Eldoraigne Retirement Estate community during February, 2016. The project is aimed at ministering to and uplifting the aged community by providing and co-ordinating a Chapel Service to the people of the Eldoraigne Retirement Estate.
Presently attendance averages at 27 regular worshippers.
The demographics of the Estate amounts to approximately 70% Afrikaans speaking; and 30% English speaking worshipers. It was agreed to run worship services on a 50-50 basis, as all members were generally bilingual to a certain extent.
Preaching themes generally follow the preaching series, alternating between either Westview Methodist Church or Raslouw Dutch Reformed Church.
Two Bible Study sessions are held at the Estate each week. There is an Afrikaans medium Bible Study on Wednesdays at 11h00, led by Mr Johan du Preez, a member of the Estate. An English medium Bible Study is held on Tuesdays at 11h00, led by Mr Pieter de Beer Strydom.
Chapel services are conducted by the ministers of both West View Methodist and Raslouw Dutch Reformed churches, supported and co-ordinated by Mr Pieter de Beer Strydom, a Local Preacher from West View. These services take place on Sundays at the Recreation Hall of the Retirement Estate, at 11h00, ending at 11h45 sharp.
There are erstwhile members of West View who now live in the Estate and regularly worship there. Members of our West View congregation are welcome to attend chapel services at the Estate and renew some long-standing acquaintances there, from time to time.
