• Khuluma Logo Development Final 02           Believing in your tomorrow

The essence of Khuluma Family Counselling Centre is our absolute faith in transforming your tomorrow today for total emotional well-being.  This we do by providing a safe, caring, loving and supportive environment.

Here individuals, families and victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, crime and child neglect are healed to become whole again.  At Khuluma individuals and families are supported to see through their problems so that they can be emotionally stronger and cope better with life’s challenges.  In this crazy, busy world - that some people refer to as a “rat-race” - it has become a battle of survival.

We are here to help with day-to-day life challenges through life coaching, dealing with stress and something we all know about – feeling down and gloomy.  Many of our visitors don’t even have enough money to buy a loaf of bread.  Groups are formed where they learn to make beautiful bags and dresses for themselves or to sell items in exchange for some needed food or school fees.

Often you can hear a child double up from laughter or giggling in the garden or playtherapy room as we assist them through play therapy to just be.  Over the years we have assisted more than 8000 people from our Centurion Community.

The Team is led by Heidi Coetzee who brings her gifts of more than 30 years in leadership, teaching and social work.  She is ably assisted by a multi-disciplinary team that allows us to provide much needed services to vulnerable children, youth, adults and families.  Our committed and dedicated Board is deeply anchored within our solid Christian value-base.

Sometimes the things people need do not require a lot – a caring deed that uplifts the spirit always goes a long way!

Khuluma relies on donations and funding from the public, companies and donor foundations. One way of generating income is to host events or functions on a yearly basis. The High Tea is one of our annual fundraisers to generate much needed income for our victim empowerment projects in Mooiplaas and Olievenhoutbosch as well as for our skills development project where ladies learn to sew and make garments

The purpose of the victim empowerment projects is to create awareness in the community about basic human rights especially in terms of gender based violence, about abusive behaviour that harms health, psychological injuries, safety, well-being or wealth, about caring relationships and how to deal with the challenges that are associated with gender based violence such as aggressive partners, stigmatisation, safety concerns, parenting and relationship skills, communication, financial issues and adherence to medication.  These services are rendered by a professional team that needs to source materials and stay abreast of the latest information and developments in the field
